BritishGaming.co.uk Podcast - BGB Shout

BGB Shout: S3E11: Hard as Tails

Video game franchises meet Web 2.0 in the latest edition of the BritishGaming online radio show as Need for Speed meets Facebook in a mashup worthy of legendary tagline status.

In this converging edition of the show…
The newest releases from Gardening Mama to Rhythm Paradise: and if the new Singstar: Pop Edition is even worth properly talking about.
It’s Mark Brown’s birthday, and we celebrate with a special, unique audio present. Jon’s also got a present from Sony, thanks to Sony and LittleBigPlanet.
An embargo on Wallace and Gromit is questioned, and the process of how to review an episodic game as a whole is too.
We pass the verdict on the second Secret Files game on Nintendo DS for people who like point and clicks or not, Bacon’s been getting queasy thanks to Everyday Shooter, and Rog’s been playing more Sonic Unleashed in a day than is physically healthy as we give you the chance to win some downloadable content for the game!

All this and more in this Birthday edition of BGB Shout!

BGB Shout: S3E10: Episode 50

It’s been 2 years, and too long, but BritishGaming.co.uk’s online radio show has finally hit episode 50. We’re not all wrapped up in self congratulatory bollocks though, as Jonathan, Bacon and Rog are still focussed on providing you with one solid hour of chat, banter and jokes whilst looking at the latest goings on in gaming.

Taking a topical start to the show, the team digest news of Uncharted 2’s multiplayer mode and if it really needs one, the reports of a credit card leak at ShopTo, and the set list for Lego Rock Band. For real, this time - and further proof that team should be kept away from the singing mode of any music games.

In honour of the 50th show, Bacon’s unearthed some classic forum postings from Rog’s early days on the internet, to help chart his process from the 11 year old who brought us such intellectual heights as “hey the green rabbits are loose again” to the man who occasionally says something on a podcast.

There’s also the quickfire run through the week’s releases from Company of Heroes to Little King’s Story, and on the download stores Lode Runner and Penny Arcade 2.
Also, Bacon and Rog pass their verdict on the Left 4 Dead update, Jonathan’s been going insane playing the completely ridiculous Excitebots, and will The Hunter make you want to kill real people?

Find out this and why you should never leave traces of your former internet life on this week’s episode of the BGB Shout podcast!

BGB Shout: S3E09: Sweet Solo, Brosef!

Take your seats, buy some overpriced popcorn, and turn off your mobile phone. No, it’s not to stop us making any calls to answerphones and saying stuff that we shouldn’t, it’s because BGB Shout heads to the movies on this film themed episode of the BritishGaming.co.uk internet radio show.

In this week’s podcast the BGB team talk about the best and worst video game adaptations, Shadow of the Colossus hitting the big screen, Rog reviews the Dragonball Evolution and to top it all off we have a world first with clips from Brett Ratner’s Guitar Hero: The Movie.

There’s also your weekly digest of the latest releases with Phantasy Star Portable on PSP and Outrun on Live Arcade and PSN. Bacon’s put his dignity on the line to get impressions of the much anticipated Fat Princess with the recent beta, and we cool down with some puzzles on Elefunk.

All of this, and find out which member of the team has a stalker called ‘Chunky Monkey’, on this week’s episode of BGB Shout - we’re only one away from the big 50!

BGB Shout: S3E08: Pick n Mix

It’s an odd mix of treats this week that you’d only ever find at Woolworths, as the BritishGaming podcast builds up an odd mix of unrelated topics from the worst E3 moments to YouTube enactment.

Jonathan tries to get a keynote speech at GDC Europe, Rog talks about erosion in gaming, and shocking discoveries about Bacon when he reveals his thieving past.

There’s the Lego Rock Band tracklist (well… sort of), Lego Island and the Lego store in a segment to appeal to all ages, impressions of Bob’s Game and some high brow discussion. Or not.

Oh yes, and there’s a zombie on your lawn - find out why on this week’s BGB Shout!

BGB Shout: S3E07: Laughs Uproariously

There’s no stupid unfunny April Fool’s joke here, just one hour of entertaining, unique, and relatively topical chat from the BGB team about the latest in gaming.

This week sees the new DSi released in Europe, but is the potential with the cameras and DSiWare enough to make it worth the £150 - or in fact, enough to get Jon and Rog off their original DSes?
There’s interesting revelations about the inner workings of Nintendo with a dramatic reading from Iwata Asks, and reflections on their past as Majora’s Mask hits Virtual Console.
Things get quizzical with our fun new gameshow pilot, “GameDaily or GamesRadar”, the verdict on Buzz: Brain of the UK, and all of the questions being asked in the slightly insane segment Anything Answered.

All of this, SOCOM: Confrontation, Picross 3D, the newest releases and more on this week’s edition of BGB Shout.

BGB Shout: S3E06: Cracking Podcast, ey?!

Your alternative online games radio show has returned, and things are a bit different after our short break…Jonathan’s gone all butch and manly, Bacon’s been schmoozing with the big boys of the journalism business and Rog… well, he’s been noobing pwns.

This week, the BGB crew cast their eyes over:
The worst lyrics ever in the history of music, Rog’s cracking stereotype of Wallace and Gromit, and Batman: Arkham Asylum.
There’s also an impromptu episode of Film 2009, the latest from VGBargains and the news from Nintendo at GDC with Rock and Roll Climber and Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
And just to top it off, Hitler’s on Facebook and our brand new ‘play along at home fun’ game!

All of this on the random and ridiculous BGB Shout!

BGB Shout: S3E05: Brother my Brother

On this week’s show, Bacon’s got some loving for his lucious vocal tones, Rog’s got some hate for his IT teacher, and Jon’s been mixing on the decks. We look at the Ultimate Megadrive Collection and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand in New Releases, and try and figure out what the hell is going on in Noby Noby Boy.

We’ve got leaked info on DJ Hero with a remix like no other, chat about The Lost and the Damned, and the first ever audio playtest of Nintendo’s new Wii title, Kensax. Sort of. Bacon’s been to the Trocodero again, and Anything Answered is back with VGBargains and The Final Thought.

All this and some philosophical musings on this tuneful edition of BGB Shout!

BGB Shout: S3E04: PS3 Sucks

BGB Shout’s been reviewed by EDGE, and rated 7/10! This is assigning a numerical value that basically says, “it’s good, but there are better shows out there.” This…is…a…lie. That’s right, a lie. Like it or not, this review is akin to saying something similar about “The Godfather II” or “Citizen Kane.” We all know that the show is one of the best podcast ever made; anyone who knows this industry and has a functioning brain will admit to this. Disgrace.

On the greatest podcast ever made this week…
The Opening Link: Rog’s joined the club of the PSTriple, but is far from impressed, and Bacon does an interview in the toilet at Sega’s Guns ‘n’ Gore II event held last week at the Wii Flat.
New Releases: House of the Dead: Overkill on Wii, and mixed views on PSN’s Flower.
Media Mayhem: Jon read the news today, oh boy, and it’s not good: GamesRadar are on the search for testicles, the EU can’t find the power button, and Mario causes teen pregnancy.
MadWorld: Hands on impressions with Platinum Games’ controversial Wii title.
The Conduit: More violence on the family friendly console with quick impressions from Bacon.
Killzone 2: Rog’s still complaining about the lack of cover in online play.
Review Scores: Rants over the rants over EDGE’s reviews. Again. This time, it’s factually impossible that Killzone 2 could be a 7/10.
Dear Capcom: The stupidity continues as the team find emails that people thought they were sending to Capcom.
The Final Thought

And as your bonus feature, it’s a 6 minute rant from Rog about everything PS3 from the console, to the PS Store, to the games themselves. Controversial!

All this and more on the Citizen Kane of podcasts, BGB Shout!

BGB Shout: S3E03: Synthesized Sounds

In the last week, the whole country came to a complete standstill as people wondered what the mysterious white things coming down from the sky were. As schools closed and companies went in to panic mode, BGB’s Mark made a snow version of The Maw and we did a podcast. Yes, forget those 3 hour long ramblings and debates, BGB Shout is back with another fast paced hour of the biggest, and smallest things in gaming this week.

In this episode…
The Opening Gambit: After Rogultgot quit the internet last week, Jon replaces him with our new third chair, Sam… and Twisted Pixel’s automated snow responce system.
New Releases: Bacon’s been looking in to the Mystery Case Files on DS, it’s time to wake up as Chrono Trigger finally hits European shores, and we go back to Paradise City, though is the grass still green and are the girls still pretty? Also, are ‘New Play Control’ titles on Wii worth it?
MC Sam: It’s time to wax poetically as the most epic battle in the history of rap hits the digital airwaves.
Killzone 2: Impressions from the demo and review copy from Bacon, as well as his… uh, interesting take on
Moon in 30 seconds
and… the Final Thought!

All this and more from sound effects in this week’s episode of BGB Shout!

BGB Shout: S3E02: Sexy Highbrow Vibrations

After a release delayed as the podcast didn’t arrive due to the snow, BGB Shout is back for a second week with another hour of faced paced chat, banter and features on the latest games, tales of the industry, and duck rape.

In this episode…
The Opening Gambit: Would anybody actually buy a Gears of War action figure? For that matter, any action figure…
New Releases: Bacon’s much loved Saints Row 2 hits PC, and EA have released SimAnimals for Wii and DS, and we’ve got a video special about the game on Newswire.
Wordsmith MC Roggie announces his departure from the internet following a special piece on GTA IV.
Jon’s been reading EDGE magazine, and is questioning the wording of one of the adverts…
Community Games: The trio take a look over some XNA developed games on Xbox Live Arcade with Carnivale Showtime, Johnny Platform’s Biscuit Romp, Groov, Blow, Valhyre, Dooke and the Musical Rain, Word Soup.
Jon’s opinions of ‘Rumble Massage’ are questioned for missing something important out…
Anything Answered: The quickfire questions on everything return, with favourite cheese, cod ejaculate,
The advert for Microsoft’s new experimental program Songsmith, with a questionable advert…

All this and more love for Bill’s Tomato Game on this week’s episode of BGB Shout!
